Destiny Energy to Build an E-Methanol Plant in Pärnu: A Key Step in Estonia’s Green Transition

Destiny Energy Estonia OÜ, a subsidiary of the international energy company Destiny Energy Singapore and an active member of Hydrogen Valley Estonia, is making a major contribution to Estonia’s green technology sector with plans to establish an e-methanol plant in the Pärnu Airport area. The project is being led by Pärnu P2X Hub OÜ.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in the production of renewable energy-based alternative fuels. The European Union’s Innovation Fund has selected the project for funding, highlighting its strategic importance and potential for the entire region. The project applied for €8.6 million in support and the grant agreement process is currently underway.

Vijay Sirse, Chairman of the Board of Pärnu P2X Hub OÜ, emphasizes that the project reflects the company’s strong commitment to the adoption of alternative fuels in Estonia. E-methanol is primarily targeted at the maritime sector, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels and helping to reduce carbon emissions.

The plant is expected to begin operations in 2028, bringing numerous new jobs to the region and creating substantial added value for Estonia as a whole. Preparatory work is already underway, including cooperation with the Tori municipality to finalize zoning plans. Support from local government is crucial to ensure the project’s smooth and timely implementation.

The planned e-methanol production facility in Pärnu represents an important step in strengthening Estonia’s leadership in green technologies and contributes to achieving the European Union’s climate goals.
